Mike Hunter, of Hunter Tool Systems, Minneapolis, MN, will demonstrate some of his carbide cutter woodturning tools and discuss some of the techniques for using them to your best advantage.

During this one-hour presentation Mike will be doing two projects:

(1) The first project Mike will demonstrate offset turning to create some fun eccentric golf tees.  Mike will also turn an eccentric box finial to remind us that not all box finials need to have an onion top.

(2) For his second project Mike will concentrate on hollow forms making a Christmas ornament globe and then wind up with hollowing a box.

Mike will answer questions and give suggestions on how to get the most out of each tool in his product line, even those not used in the presentation.  As he did last year, Mike will bring down some tools that club members may buy at discount.

About Mike

To get a better hollowing tool that is super sharp and stays sharp, Mike designed a carbide cutter and hollowing tools. After extensive testing, he put the tools on the market, and they achieved an almost instant success. Mike has broadened his hollowing line and then developed tools that work well for bowl turning and other applications. Mike has also designed retrofit tools for popular hollowing systems.
